Distributed Database
| With the decision to proceed with an open-based system
made, the BOR's initial focus was building the distributed database required to run such a regional
distributed system. A critical
area in constructing the first piece was how
to go about handling all the real-time interrupt, time critical data from the RTU’s,
which monitored each generator and sub station. After a lot of hard work, the BOR had the
first piece of their new system: the hardware and operating system independent system
(initial implementation on Digital UNIX and OpenVMS), called Reclamation Alternative Modular SCADA (RAMS) software, composed of a Distributed
Database System, or in simpler terms, the DDBS. |
